Help for Haiti

Haiti, one of the poorest countries in the world, was hit with a devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake this past Tuesday. You have probably seen reports of the collapse of the hospital, the 5-story UN Headquarters building and the Presidential palace. Emergency help has been hampered by the lack of power and communications. According to Dick Nicholson, Regional Missions Director for Latin America and the Caribbean region, “All our A/G  missionaries are safe but the devastation is catastrophic.” There are 273 A/G churches and 66,000 constituents in Haiti.

Assemblies of God World Missions and Convoy of Hope have people in Haiti to do an assessment and assist in the relief effort. The disruption of communications has made it difficult to know the full extent of the damage but a Convoy of Hope warehouse already in Haiti is available to serve as a distribution center for food, water and other relief supplies.

Emergency reserve funds have already been disbursed to meet immediate needs but more funds are needed to continue the relief efforts. Please consider giving an offering to help with the         response. Just designate the offering “Haiti Relief” and give with tithes and offerings. Make all checks out to Plum Grove Assembly and we will send a check to Assemblies of God World Missions on Monday.

May the Lord bless you for your sensitivity to the needs of others.
